The new 2025 Shimano Aero X5a Distance 12" model is now available in a 110g casting test but in 3 parts. Meanwhile the 12" Precision up to 90g is two-piece.
For many anglers, the most interesting question is which feeder to choose and which is the best in its price category. The new Shimano Aero X5a Distance has very few real competitors. TheDrannan Acolyte Distance, for example, is a much poorer casting rod, unsuitable for a larger reel and a strong flow, as it has very small rings and a too-small blank that is not capable of throwing a lot of weight far or accurately. "The Drennan's strong point is in the short to medium range, where heavy weights and long distances are not needed.
Well, the other competitor is theShimano aero X7afaders, which are really similar in style and features, but made from slightly more advanced materials, both in terms of blank and fittings. But they also have a higher price.
