Wools fall into two broad categories - monofilament and braided. Monofilament is made from a single strand of plastic. Nylon, a synthetic polymer, is currently the most popular material because it is inexpensive and easy to process. Braided fleeces are woven together from several strands of polyethylene. It is therefore much less elastic than a single filament and much stronger. Braided fleeces are usually made of 4 or 8 strands.

Bottom fishing lines

Bottom fishing lines are used according to the type of rod and method you are fishing with. If you are fishing with a classic bottom fishing rod, holding the rods on stakes or stands and using a bite indicator, then monofilament lines are used. This is because this is usually used for larger fish such as carp or large crucian carp, and braided line has too little cushioning to handle such fish effectively. Monofilament line is buoyant and has a slight sinking effect. The floating one is normally transparent and the sinking one dark brown. For demersal fishing it is recommended to use a sinking mono line. It sinks faster and makes a smaller loop in the water. Special mono lines for bottom fishing with "Feeder" on the labels will always sink. You can safely buy online or in person where the names say "Feeder" and you won't get wet.

Braided line is much more commonly used for feeder fishing. When actively fishing with a feeder, it is very important to see even the slightest touch of the fish to the bait, and with a stretchy mono reel this is hard to achieve. Therefore, the braided line is practically completely inelastic. The best braided line for bottom fishing is also considered to be a sinking line, but their price is higher than that of standard braided lines and sinking lines wear out faster. So standard braided lines are more popular, and the most popular for several years now is the Shimano Kairiki.

A line for float fishing

Monofilament line is used exclusively for float fishing. The choice here is where to fish: in the current or in still water. When fishing in a current, a floating mono line is used. When fishing in still water, a sinking mono line is used to allow the line to sink without the wind carrying the line and thus the float.
