Jackets

Winter fishing jackets are designed to protect the fisherman from the cold in the first place, and quality winter jackets protect the fisherman not only from the cold, but also from sweating and precipitation. Nowadays, few people buy winter jackets without a membrane. That is, either non-breathable or afraid of water. Membrane winter jackets are no longer expensive these days, starting at EUR 70, and it is certainly not worth saving up and buying a jacket without a membrane. However, the membrane is not the only thing to look out for, in fact the opposite is true - the membrane is less important for a winter jacket than for a summer one. When buying a winter jacket, the most important thing is the warmth/comfort ratio. A very thick jacket will be warm, but very uncomfortable, heavy and you may sweat very quickly when moving around more. A thin jacket may be too cold and, as the sun sets and the evening progresses, it may become just too cold to fish. The solution is to choose a jacket with quality insulation and all the necessary features. Correct cuffs, waistbands, a high collar and a functional hood will also help to keep you warm and, if necessary, evaporate sweat more quickly when all the ends are loose.

Fishing jackets with Primaloft insulation

The most versatile winter fishing jackets come with Primaloft insulation. It is lightweight and soft, yet maximises sweat evaporation and heat retention. These jackets will keep you warm and comfortable. It should be noted that these jackets are suitable for both shore and boat fishing, i.e. both active and passive. So you won't have to buy two different sets of clothes if you like to sit in the boat until it freezes in the cold season and then get on the ice and wander between the ekechos. Jackets with Primaloft insulation are available with and without membrane. Jackets without a membrane are more often chosen for leisure than for fishing. They breathe incredibly well, but in windy weather, let alone rainy weather, they will not be comfortable. For maximum protection, the jacket must also have a membrane. There is one downside to such jackets - if you have the luxury of Primaloft insulation, you need a good quality membrane with good data. And the price of such a combination will not be low if bought online. You will have to spend several hundred euros just for the jacket. At the moment, the best prices are for the FHM Mist and FHM Guard Insulated jackets. There are also promotions on them. They have all the necessary accessories, i.e. primaloft insulation, one of the best Toray Dermizax 20 000 membranes on the market, a waistband, a very functional double-adjustable hood, semi-glove cuffs, high collars, a zipper covered with magnetic buttons, lots of pockets inside and outside, and even a wipe on the clip-on holder for cleaning your glasses. Definitely recommend these jackets or all suits not only for fishing but also for skiing or boating.
