Summer suits

Fisherman's costumes

Warm-season fishing suits are mainly needed to protect against rain and wind, but there is one very important condition, which is that they must also breathe. Special membranes have been developed to make the suit both waterproof and breathable. The membrane's job is to allow the air molecule to get out and the water molecule to keep in. There are all kinds of membranes with very different specifications. The most basic membranes, which are reasonably priced, can breathe and hold water as much as 5 times less well than good, expensive membranes. Until the 1980s, there were no membranes at all and clothes did not breathe, but then came the Gore-Tex membrane, which changed everything. It was, and is, quite expensive because it is a Teflon layer with micro-holes. Then came the cheaper polyester and polyurethane membranes and their many variants. Gore-Tex Mambrana is still considered to be one of the best membranes, but it is not far behind other well-known membranes such as Toray-Dermizax, Bartex and others.

Summer suits and their membranes

To make it clearer which membrane has which protection against rain, we will give the characteristics in terms of water resistance in mm/m2.
3000 membrane - protects against light, short rains and wind. Water will penetrate very quickly when sitting on a wet surface.
5000 membrane - protects against light, prolonged rain and wind. However, sitting on a wet surface is also not recommended.
8000 membrane - will not get wet in moderate rain and will effectively protect against cold and brisk winds. It will not get wet during the first year of wear. Afterwards, the protection will slowly decrease as the factory impregnation wears off.
10 000 membrane - for the first and second year of reliable protection against any rain. Afterwards, the protection will slowly decrease as the factory impregnation wears off.
20 000 membrane - provides the best protection against intense rainfall, low temperatures and wind. Will last for years. The best choice for fishing.
