Mono Line

The monofilament monofilament line was launched in 1939 by the American DuPont company. It is made from a single strand of plastic. As in the early days, it is still the most popular synthetic polymer, nylon, because it is inexpensive to produce and inexpensive to process. The advantage of monofilament, also known as mono-filament, is its low price: a 150 metre roll costs between €1.5 and €9. Another advantage is its integrity: it does not absorb water, it does not ice over at sub-zero temperatures, and it slides quietly and easily through the rod rings. A third advantage is that it is transparent and difficult for fish to see in the water. Monofilament lines are also quite resistant to abrasion compared to braided lines. The downsides of monofilament: it is very afraid of UV rays and loses its properties quickly in the light. Hardens and stops holding the knot. It is recommended to replace the mono roll at least every year if you do not want any surprises. Another disadvantage is its high elasticity. When using a mono line, the sensitivity with the lure is lost. This is very important for spinning or feeder fishing, so a braided line is recommended for these types of fishing. For float, bottom (with beacons) or Method feeder fishing, elasticity is even an advantage, as it holds large hooked fish such as carp better. What is the difference between some nylon lines and others? Why are there several price differences? Monofilament lines can be harder, softer, more elastic or less elastic. Also, some of them are stronger than others, given the same diameter, while others are rather weak. It is primarily the base material and its impurities. Not so long ago, instead of the standard solid nylon, two different types of nylon were introduced, such mono-filaments being called copolymer-filaments. These have better properties and are much more resistant to abrasion. Also, the quality of all monofilament wools is determined by the speed at which they are stretched during the manufacturing process. The slower the tow is towed, the stronger it will be.

Monofilament reel for spinning

Monofilament line for spinning is most often used when fishing with metallic baits: spinning rod or shiny lure. Such lures tend to twist the line very much, whereas mono line is much less twisted and easier to reel. Also, when fishing with metal lures, the fish is much more likely to bite itself, and there is no need for a high sensitivity of the gear and a tight bite.
You can buy a wide range of mono lures for fishing online at www.azukle.lt, and the price is definitely affordable.
