Pole rods without rings

Rods without rings are also called poles or bots. These are telescopic rods that do not have a reel holder or rings. The reel is attached to the rod tip by a special clamp, which is often fitted with an elastic rubber for added shock absorption. The bobbin should not be confused with a streamer. A streamer is a very long and expensive rod that can be up to 15 metres long, while a bot is a telescopic rod that rarely exceeds 8 metres in length. Many European fishermen prefer this type of rod to the reel rod. Rods without rings are simpler, have less to break and are less likely to tangle the line than a reel rod. The pole is perfect not only for beginners and younger anglers, but also for experienced competition anglers who just need to concentrate on getting as many fish in the net as possible, as quickly as possible! As far as stacking rods are concerned, i.e. long stacking rods, they are exclusively used in Lithuania by float fishing sportsmen. There is no culture of fishing with such rods in our country because, firstly, it is a very expensive pastime and, secondly, there are no narrow channels where such fishing is very effective. Float fishing in general is also losing its popularity in Lithuania, giving way to feeder fishing. It is difficult to say why this is the case, but it is probably due to the specifics of the most popular bodies of water. Our Kaunas, Curonian Lagoon or Nemunas are much more suitable for fishing with bottom fishing rods, because you have to fish at quite long distances and at considerable depths, which is quite difficult with a floating rod, whatever it may be. However, it is ringless rods that have recently started to gain popularity among boat-based whitefish anglers.

What type of pole do amateurs and sportsmen need?

Amateurs and beginners do not need to buy an expensive pole rod. You can fish well with an economical version, but it is not advisable to go for a very long cheap pole. A 2,3,4 or even a 5m pole can cost up to 30€, but if you are looking for a longer pole, you should consider much more expensive options.

When buying a first rod for children under 10 years old, it is best to choose 2-3m long options, while older children can easily keep a 4m rod. Children with rods without rings and without reels find it much easier to get to know the fun of fishing and at the same time need less help.

For amateur fishermen, pole-type rods are recommended for fishing from the shore and especially from a boat. With this type of rod it is much more accurate to lower the float into a pocket between the grasses when fishing for tench or to keep the float in the flow when fishing for roach.

The best rods cost well over EUR 100, but once you pick them up you can't help wondering how they differ from cheaper ones. First of all, the weight and the action of the blank. The weight can be up to 2 times lighter and the action much faster. The action of a cheap 6m long pole will be quite slow and the limb will come down a lot when extended. Well, when you pick up, say, a Golden Catch Syntez rod, you don't want to let it go.

Our collection includes well-known brands and cheap kids' rods. Recently, the market has been taken over by the Ukrainian company Golden Catch. They offer very good quality at a reasonable price, and their most luxurious model won the first prize for the best new pole fishing rod at the Eftex fishing exhibition in 2023. It is already a favourite with our sports and amateur float anglers.
