G-Soul X8 Upgrade, a braided line from the Japanese YGK company, is probably the most often named as the No.1 line among all 8-strand lines. Its outstanding feature is its very stiff braiding. While the strands of standard 8-stranded lines come apart very easily when the line is crushed, the strands of the G-Soul Upgrade seem to stick together. This feature makes the line less vulnerable to damage and provides a very good thickness to retention ratio. It is also harder than other lines and the thinnest diameters can be handled well by lower grade or misaligned reels.
