Megabass Vision One Ten
I didn't choose theMegabass Vision 100 One Ten for no reason and certainly not because it was my favourite wobbler. The truth is that this lure is super popular both across the Atlantic and on this side of the ocean, and most importantly, many Lithuanian wobbler enthusiasts have it in their boxes. However, it has to be admitted that not all anglers find the key to this wobbler and "fish" it quickly. There are many anglers who have given up on this wobbler as not being fun, but others love it. It is already at this point that not all patterns, spinning styles, and perhaps not all gears, are suitable for the Vision 110 One Ten. So hopefully you will find some useful tips in this issue's column to help you unlock this wobbler, or to help you to decide that it is not the right one for you.
Exterior and interior
The Megabass Vision 110 One Ten is a typical extended body minnow type wobbler, measuring 110.5mm in length and 14g in weight. It is armed with three Japanese Katsuage No.6 size hooks. The trebles are very sharp, but the wire is quite thin and the hooked pike sometimes bends them. The middle hook is interestingly free of barbs at all. The idea is that a predator will almost never bite the middle hook alone, and it is much easier to get the hook out of the fish without the snag. So at least with the middle hook you won't have the hassle. Even though the hooks are thin and not designed for our pike, don't make the mistake of changing them in a hurry. Three Katsuake No.6 hooks weigh 1.1g., while our most popular three Owner 36BC hooks weigh 1.4g. Equipping the Vision with these hooks makes the wobbler slower sinking and much less dynamic. If the original hooks are broken and Katsuke hooks are not available, you should look for Gamakatsu Round Bend, Gamakatsu EMG or Owner 21BC No.6 hooks. They weigh practically the same as the originals and do not change the characteristics of the wobbler.
Megabass Vision 110 One Ten is a long-casting wobbler with two tungsten shafts inside, which fall as far as possible into the wobbler's tail during the casting process, so that the centre of gravity is located at the back of the wobbler and it flies straight enough to keep it from spinning. When the wobbler hits the water and is moved slightly, the shot returns to its original position - in the middle, slightly closer to the head. There is no additional fixed balancing weight to increase the weight distribution. This is the secret of its long casting distance. It should be noted, however, that there are three additional free-moving hatches in the belly of the wobbler, but they are lightweight and their purpose is to provide additional sound.

The colour range of the wobbler is truly more than impressive. I have managed to find almost 70 different shades of this model on the Internet. Among them you will find glossy lacquered or foiled colours, as well as many transparent, more or less translucent models, and the bright matt colours that are so popular in Lithuania. It's not easy to pick out the better or more interesting colours from such a wide range. However, I would recommend trying the "aka tora" bright orange-based tiger colour in cloudy weather and in cloudy or dark water, the "gg pro blue" or the "gg pro blue 2 " clear blue colour in clear water. And in full cocoa - theFrench pearl ob' pearl colouring is often used.
The resistance of the paint to pike teeth is not as poor as that of Lucky Craft wobblers, but it is not as resistant as that of Rapala plastic fish, which, it should be admitted, are much less difficult to paint. As for other troubles, I have heard from more than one angler that the small shad get caught in the chamber of the large shad and the large shad gets stuck. However, I have not experienced this myself, again if you notice that the wobbler has started to wobble more in the air, check that the charts are walking correctly. Also, many people are not aware of the need to protect the tongues of wobblers during the cold season. If you are fishing near zero or in sub-zero temperatures, they can easily break when they hit a hard surface (tree branch, bridge pole or stone). Megabass Vision is no exception.
Behaviour in water
Depending on the weight of the leash and clip, the water temperature and the X-factor described below, the Vision 110 One Ten can rise or fall slightly or hover when it reaches its working depth, so it can be safely described as a typical neutral buoyancy wobbler, or, for short, a suspender. As far as the X-factor is concerned, the manufacturer should be reproached, because brand new wobblers behave differently when thrown into the water. Some rise slowly, others sink slowly. So their buoyancy is not perfectly uniform. I have assumed that perhaps the X factor is different colouring. A brightly coloured model in varnish has a much higher layer of paint than the sub-transparent or matt versions. Perhaps that is enough to change the buoyancy. However, I did not have the opportunity to see this in practice, as I would need to have at least a couple of copies of the painted wobblers , which is a luxury.
When fished in still water, depending on the type and thickness of the line, this lure reaches depths of 0.6-1.2m. During the pause, the Vision One Ten is stiffened at an angle of about 60 degrees when tilted upside down. During a steady retrieve, the Vision 110 One Ten works at a moderate intensity, does not tilt its head wide to the sides and has a clear rolling motion, i.e. it rolls from side to side. This model is particularly easy to twitch. It zigzags from side to side for about 20-30 cm in a steady, low-intensity exercise.
In the current Megabass Vision works flawlessly, does not tip on its side, does not lose its balance, and can be used in a fast retrieve if necessary.
In this section you will find out how this wobbler casts on different shafts. I will also compare how the wobbler casts with a Fluorocarbon shaft and how it casts with a braided shaft on the same tool. So, I have done the test with the following shafts :
1. The heavier casting set. GLoomis JBR 6.9 ft. to 3/4 oz. casting rod, armed with a Shimano Antares reel and a rather thick 2.0 14lb 0.26mm Sunline Momentum hybrid shaft. I will also be comparing the capabilities of this setup using a YGK 16lb. 0.34mm Fluorocarbon shaft.
2. Lighter casting kit. 13 Fishing Envy Black, 1/4-5/8 oz casting rod with the same Shimano Antares reel and a 2.0 Sunline Momentum hybrid whale.
3. Spinning Kit. 13 Fishing Omen Black 6.7ft to 17.5g single casting rod. Okuma RTX 4000 reel with 1.2 YGK G-Soul 8-strand braided whale.
As this is only the first section and there is nothing to compare the results with, I tested three long-range wobblers of the same length. These are our hero Megabass Vision 110 One Ten (11cm., 14g., Suspender), Lucky Craft Flash Minnow (11cm. 16.5g. Suspender) and ZIp Baits Orbit (11cm. 16.5g. Suspender). I used the average of 10 casts to get the most objective results. Distance was measured in real distance, not in the amount of line thrown, which is always much higher than the real distance. The tests were carried out outdoors in a slight breeze.

The results were not disappointing, because even though it weighs less than the Lucky Craft Flash Minnow and the Zip Baits Orbit, which are recognised as super long-range wobblers, the Megabass Vision travels just as far.
As we can see from the table, the Megabass Vision 110 One Ten casts a little further with a leaderless reel, but keep in mind that the leaderless reel used a much thinner line. However, the quality of the gear also influences the results, the casting rods and reel are top class and the spinning set is mid-range. I tried to test with a mid-range casting reel, which costs about 100eur in our shops, and I was convinced that the long-range reels are only suitable for short casts or for casts with weights over 20g.
Application and recommended casting techniques.
In Lithuania, this wobbler is used mainly for pike. Occasionally, one or two other perch are tempted by it, and I don't think it will be a waste of time to target salmon in the current. But let's concentrate on pike.
The fact that it is a twitching minnow already tells us that the Vision One Ten is more effective in clearer water. This type of wobbler attracts pike with its natural look, realistic movements and often is attacked during a pause, which is less common in turbid water.
The working depth of the wobbler is approximately one metre, so it is a shallow-water lure that will fish effectively in depths of up to 2.5m. Of course, it is possible to go deeper than that, but I have never been impressed by the stories I often hear about wobblers picking up pike from three or even five metres deeper than the wobbler. I put it down to chance rather than a trend.
As far as the seasons are concerned, the Megabass Vision is most often described as a spring or summer wobbler for more active pike. However, I know at least a few anglers who use this lure with great success right up to the end of the season, i.e. until their favourite water bodies freeze over. However, it is worth mentioning that the rods they use are of a rather light class and they work with this wobbler in a rather plastic and gentle way.
When discussing the most popular retrieve techniques, first of all, it is worth mentioning a light retrieve with two or three short strokes and a short pause. However, this wobbler does roll really nicely during the pause, so it is important to take advantage of this.
I have also not only heard, but also seen for myself the effectiveness of a radically different retrieve. The method is very simple - pounding the wobbler from the heart and with full force, without any pauses, until it reaches the legs or the boat. However, try this method more often in the warmer seasons. Late autumn is definitely not the best time for this.
The Vision 110 One Ten can also be fished well with the Stop and Go method or with a steady retrieve, as its spontaneous action produces quite pronounced oscillations and aggressive rattling. As for trolling, I have not often heard of this wobbler being used very successfully, although I have caught a few pike with this lure myself. So you can try.
To sum up, medium to fast trolling with short pauses of 1-3 seconds is recommended.
Recommended tools
Megabass Vision 110 One I would recommend to use 1,9-2,1m length and medium or even medium-light shafts, but with a faster action (fast or even faster). The thicker tip of the rod as we use for the bigger Lucky Craft Pointers or Deps Balisongs is definitely not needed. The spinning rod can be even better with a thinner but fast tip, in this way it is possible to present the wobbler in the maximum number of ways.
Availability and price
The Vision 110 One Ten is imported to Lithuania by two large wholesalers and is also sold in a good number of more modern fishing shops. It is also sold by a large number of our online fishing shops. There is no problem with online shipping from abroad, either, as many of the major Japanese and American online shops sell it. Unfortunately, when buying in Lithuania, the choice of colours is modest compared to the full range. Our wholesalers are dominated by up to 30 shades.
Considering the price, this wobbler can be safely classified as premium: the regular shelf price in Lithuania is 22 euros, in foreign online shops - 24 dollars.
