Major Craft Range Part III. Premium for mid-river pike.
omina medium-length but very lightweight spinning rod for catching pikeperch or salamanders with wobblers in a medium river? Major Craft's new Rockliver 5g 802ml. tubular is probably one of the most fun choices, even though it's not the most expensive. At 244 cm long and weighing only 86 g, it would be no surprise if it cost a full 450 euros under another brand. Despite its claimed casting 3-25g, this light-as-a-puff spinning rod is perfect for 2g wobblers too. Well, the upper limit of 25g, as the Japanese label rockfish, is not for our conditions. For lures of 15g and heavier, we would have to look for another spinning rod. This is a Medium Light rod (more Light in reality) and its working comfort range will not be above 12g. The action of the spinning rod, like all Major Craft Rockliver 5Gs, is Progressive Fast, or at least that is the common name for spinning rods with similar action. This means that the spinning rod will return to its original position very quickly, but will work with fish or heavier baits like a modern action rod. Which lures will this rod work best with? The Jackal Chubby will cast as far as possible with a light cast, the Red Rag 7g will also. No2, No3 shakes are the baits this rod will handle well. Glitter from 3 to 12g, heavier glitter will lack "meat".
Pike anglers with this spinning rod should limit themselves to a 7cm elastic rod with a light head hook. With larger elastics, neither the cast nor the bite will be sufficient. This rod is too soft for Stark jigging.
And for perch? Dropshotting with a 4-12g weight will be a pleasure, peternoster is also great with a 15g weight. Trolling a 3-inch crayfish on the bottom for a passive bass is the same.
All in all, this is a very light, very sensitive but not sharp rod, made with the most advanced T1100G Toray carbon, a 360 carbon sheet layout, and armed with luxurious Fuji fittings. It will dispel the myth that a sensitive rod must be sharp.
