Spinning rods for birdcatcher and Nano

The most basic XUL spinning rod is used for the Oyster Fish, with casting tests up to max 3g. Although most experienced anglers would say that the spinning rod should be up to 1.5g, 3g is a nano jig. It is hard to argue with that, but for a beginner angler, a single spinning rod will suffice for both techniques, which are all intertwined and it is difficult to know where the line is between them. What should be the lower limit of the casting test, you ask? This is not important because the manufacturer's label is just a number that is not measured in any way, so it is better to be guided by looking at the upper limit. It is more likely to be true than the lower limit, we can guarantee that.

The length of the spinning rod is also debatable, some people are fine with a longer one, others with a shorter one, but one way or the other, 1.7m-2.2m spinning rods dominate the choice of XUL anglers. The shorter the rod, the lighter and more sensitive it will be, but the longer the rod, the easier it will be to control the bait and the better it will absorb the fish's strikes, which is very important when fishing with very thin walleyes.

What is the best action for a spinning rod for sheepshead?

The action of the blank should not be very fast for oyster fishing, as the fish often bite when the lure is shaken, as if we were fishing drop shot or ice fishing in winter. With a very hard blank it is difficult to do this, so it is preferable to have a drop shot rod for sheepshead that is similar to a drop shot rod, but with a much lower weight. In practice, parabolic blanks are also used for sheepshead fishing, as it is not difficult to shake a lightweight sheepshead with them, but maybe a little harder with heavier lures at greater depths. When fishing at deeper depths or in currents, it is recommended to choose a rod with a stiffer action. The most popular lures for sheepshead fishing in Lithuania are Crazy Fish Nano, Blue Bird XUL, Golden Catch Flick Air, WFT Penzil Ul.
