Reel Shimano Sustain FJ (1000-4000)
- 8+1 Shimano bearings with extra protection;
- Metal body for added strength. The
- strength of the casing is one of the most important factors in the durability of the reel;
- X-protect is the best protection against the ingress of water into the reel.
- Second generation micro-teeth
- The latest and most advanced drum edge angle system;
- Longer lasting serrations thanks to two bearings around the pinion gear;
- Injection-patented, second-generation winding system. This guarantees further casting and fewer loops.
- Patented special angle drum edge for less tangling and further casting;
- Metal cold stamping tooth, no additional machining required. Traditional metal machined toothed wheels are faster wearing than Hegane;
- State-of-the-art rotor. 25pc lighter and with 22pc less inertia, resulting in easier starts;
- Special system to prevent drum wobble even when the friction brake is tightened very slightly;
- Shimano's special reel guide to reduce line tangling;
- Reel weight distribution system, moving the centre of gravity closer to the rod.
- This reduces wrist strain;
- One-piece reel guide. No snags, no unnecessary wear and tear on the reel;
- STROKE SPOOL Raised, farther casting reel

Probably one of Shimano's biggest leaps between the newer and older models since the Ultegra FC. The old Sustain had no microtubes, no MGL rotor, no X-Protect water protection, and was 5-15g heavier. When to choose Sustain, how is it better than the cheaper bestseller Vanford? The Sustain is a more powerful reel in an aluminium body. Let's say the Vanford 2500 is a great choice for light spinning, the 2500 Sustain is more suitable for medium spinning.
