A multiplier reel, also known as a casting reel, can be low profile or round profile. Low profile reels are the most popular in Lithuania, as they are more compact in shape than round profile reels, which are more powerful and heavier.

How are casting reels better than reels without inertia?

One of the undisputed advantages of multiplier reels is the ability to lay the line without twisting it. This avoids those situations where the unpleasant sound of loops and knots running through the rings when casting the lure. This is a problem very often encountered by twitchers. When twitching without an inertia reel, not only is the free line twisted but also unevenly gathered, so that 'beards' are quite common. Another advantage of multiplier reels is that they are simpler and at the same time more robust and durable. For the same reason, they are lighter and cost relatively less than a reel of the same level without inertia. Multiplier anglers will never have problems with poorly rotating line guides, incomplete arc closures or tapered line lay. Fans of spinning with elastic bands who demand maximum sensitivity from their gear will not be disappointed either, as the multiplier gives a better feel for the contact with the lure. For the same reason, when fishing with an inertia reel, i.e. a multiplier reel, it is easier and simpler to hit the bait at a specific point. When casting, the flight of the lure is stopped simply by pressing the reel. This action is much easier to do in a quick and timely manner than manually bending the hoop. Those who like vertical jigging or trolling with rubber rods, with the bait hitting the bottom, and who have to constantly release and collect the bait, should also try the possibilities offered by the multiplier.

            Multiplier reel for light spinning

With all the advantages of a multiplier reel, the question arises as to why the vast majority of anglers are still spinning crankbaits or jigging for sturgeon with reels without inertia. There are several reasons for this. First of all, there is the opinion that only very good multipliers, costing over 300 euros in our country, are capable of casting lures lighter than 15g far. This opinion is not completely wrong, because you can't throw light lures far with a cheap multiplier. However, the most famous manufacturer of multiplier reels, the Japanese company Shimano, currently produces the SLX series of reels, the price of which barely exceeds 100eur, and such a reel perfectly copes with the low weight of the lure. You can order these and other Shimano reels online or buy them in our physical store. However, casting reels cannot be fully replaced without inertia reels. When it comes to very light lures, the use of multiplier reels becomes problematic. The lighter the lures and the thinner the lines, the more advantages the inertia reels have. This is the case both in terms of casting distance and the smoothness of the drag action. The drag of a spoolless reel is much more sensitive and smoother, and makes it easier to deal with unexpected catches when fishing with very thin reels.

            Multiplier reel for winter

Winter multiplier reels are a very recent development, popularised by the US company 13 fishing, which developed a multiplier reel with a wide but narrow reel. Nowadays, they are already outselling non-inertial winter reels.
