Method feeder fishing uses essentially the same feeder rods as conventional feeder fishing. The rod may or may not have a label saying it is a method feeder. This should not really affect your choice. The choice of a method feeder rod should be based primarily on the distance you intend to fish. If the rod is needed for short distances, the requirements are much lower. The most important thing here is how it will hold the hooked fish. So it has to have a more parabolic action and be able to absorb the shock of the hooked fish well. For short distances, the feeder can be between 3m and 3.6m long. The power of the feeder is also chosen according to the situation. If you are fishing in pools where there are a lot of snags and you need to force the fish, more powerful rods are chosen. If conditions are more favourable, the feeder does not have to be very strong.

It is more complicated if you choose a rod for maximum distance. Don't be fooled, ordinary feeder rods will not do. Do not choose lightweight, fast-action feeder reels as they are likely to break during casting. Why is this? In Method fishing, casts are made as with a carp rod - standing up and even on a double step. This way the rod has to withstand a much higher force and not all feeder rods can withstand it. Method feeder rods for long distance fishing must be heavy enough, i.e. thick-walled. A 390cm rod should be no lighter than 260g. It is also preferable that the rings are larger and that the first ring is as far from the reel as possible. For a powerful method feeder, a powerful and large reel with a wide spool should be chosen. You will also use a mono line when fishing for carp. So the bigger the rings, the farther the cast will be. The most popular method reels in Lithuania are Shimano Aero X5 and Drennan Acolyte. The former are very powerful and easy to handle quickly and cast as far as possible, while the latter are great fun, fairly light and precise, and most importantly, they are not afraid of loads during casting. The most popular reel is of course the Shimano Ultegra 5500. Here online you will always find a selection of these rods and reels, and the price is sure to please you.
