FC Line

A more modern version of monofilament wool is fluorocarbon wool. How does fluorocarbon (abbreviated as FC) differ from plain mono-fibre? What are its advantages? First of all, Fluorocarbon is less visible in water than mono. Secondly, it is much less elastic, which increases the overall sensitivity of the tool. Thirdly, fluorocarbon cleaners are more resistant to abrasion. Fourthly, it is not afraid of UV rays and ages (loses strength) several times slower than mono. The pluses are obvious, but the minuses are not small either, so its use is rather limited. And limited, because FC is normally twice as expensive, and the price increases several times more with larger diameters. The other big downside is that FC is hard and has a large memory. For this reason, it is little used as a main reel for spinning without an inertia reel. This line slides off the reel drum in a rather wide spiral and rubs against the edges of the rings. In multiplier reel fishing, the line is forced to straighten out as it slides through the narrow guide and simply acts as a drum brake itself. The third disadvantage is that the FC line is slightly weaker than a mono line of the same diameter, but only while the mono line is fresh. After a few fishing trips, the mono line will have lost some of its strength and the fluorocarbon will still be as strong as when it came out of the package. For this reason, FC reels are very popular with winter anglers but not with ice anglers. Sportsmen change the mono line every few fishing trips and always have maximum strength. But amateurs don't change lines for a year or two, so the FC winter line already has the edge. In our physical shop and online you will find a very large selection of fluorocarbon lines, competitive both in terms of their uninflated price and maximum quality.

Fluorocarbon line for spinning

Fc is very rarely used as the main line for spinning with a reel without inertia. There have been some attempts to fish salmon in this way, but the disadvantages have proved to be more than the pros. With a multiplier reel the situation is different, here the fluorocarbon line is used much more often, because the Fc line has a lot of advantages for twerking with wobblers. The bait animation is more plastic, the lures often attract more grayling, the wobbler dives deeper, and when fishing in late autumn or winter, the spinning rings freeze much less. You can buy Fc valo from a variety of brands online, both for leashes and multiplier reels.
