Wading shoes

Wading boots, or wading boots for short, are special shoes that come with breathable waders. Don't be fooled, this is no ordinary footwear. These shoes are waterproof as far as possible, but they are fully waterproof. The water retention function of the breathable waders is performed by the neoprene socks of the wading trousers. The boots even have special drainage holes to allow water to drain out more quickly when getting out of the water. Waders come in three types of sole: veilok sole, rubber sole and spiked sole.

Veil-type wading boots

These wading boots have the following advantages. They have the lowest price of all. Another plus is that they are lightweight and comfortable and safer to walk on wet stones. They are made for that. However, in Lithuania there are very few stony rivers and they are not popular here, because the veil-eyed wading boot is completely unsuitable for walking on slippery slopes or in the snow.

Wading boots with rubber soles

These are the most popular wading boots in Lithuania because they have a good tread and are not slippery on mud or snow. They are also cheaper than shoes with spikes.

Spiked soles

Bridles with spiked soles are the most expensive, but are indispensable when fishing in the winter thaw, when the ice melts and the whole river bank is covered with ice floes. Walking on ice floes that have been washed ashore, or trying to access the river through the ice, with other shoes, will be difficult and extremely unsafe. However, there are online sales, so you can get them cheaper.
