Rod case

The main accessory for a fisherman is probably the fishing rod case, which was rarely used a decade ago, but nowadays fishermen have more than one case. Fishing rod cases are needed for several reasons. First of all, it is for the safety of the fishing rod. Rod blanks and rings are not shock-resistant, or rather very shock-resistant and crush-resistant, and cases, depending on their type, more or less solve this problem. Another purpose of the tray is convenience of transport and storage. It is much easier and more convenient to take the rods to the fishery in the case, and it is quick and convenient to hang the case with all the rods in the garage after removing it from the machine.

Types and advantages of a fishing rod case

Trays can be classified according to several criteria. They come in different lengths: from 60 cm for winter rods to 230 cm for tubes. There are also cases for one or even six rods with reels. The cases are made of different materials: PVC, nylon, strong fabric or plastic. The main criterion for classifying cases is the hardness of the rod case. They can be soft, semi-hard and fully hard. Soft cases are not intended for full protection of the rod, but rather for ease of transport. One of the advantages of a soft case is the low price (ranging from 10 to 40 euros, depending on the quality of the material, the number of rods and the length of the case). Another advantage is that it is available for both 4 and 6 rods with reels, and the case will not be very bulky. The disadvantage is that it does not fully protect the rods from damage. Such cases are mostly used when you want to take different types of rods to the fishing trip. Semi-rigid cases. These are trays that have already been moulded and cannot be folded in half but can be rolled up. They may be for one rod or for all four rods with reels. Like soft cases, they do not fully protect the rods, but the protection is already greater compared to a soft case and the cases themselves also take up less space than fully hard cases. Such cases are mainly bought by bottom or float fishermen. The price of these cases ranges from EUR 20 to EUR 40. Hard cases. Hard cases are fully expanded cases that can neither be folded nor rolled if they are zipped. The bottom of the case is moulded out of a rectangular piece of hard plastic which gives the case its shape. The advantage of such trays is that they protect the rods from various external influences, but they cannot be loaded with heavy objects. The hard case is not made of plastic and can be crushed if pressed hard. Hard cases are available for both one and six rods. The disadvantages are that they take up a lot of space and are massive. Another minus is that they are not cheap. The price of such cases, depending on the number of rods, the length and the hardness of the material, ranges from 25 to 180 euros. Hard cases are mostly used for bottom fishing rods, such as fiddlers or expensive float rods. Fully rigid cases. These are plastic cases that open like a suitcase. They come in one compartment, but usually hold two rods with reels tied with straps inside. Such cases are also suitable for long-distance trips as they can be loaded with other items. They fully protect the rods. The downside is that they are only designed for two or one rod and reel, so they are mostly used for spinning or float fishing. They come in either an elongated rectangular shape or in the shape of a guitar case. Guitar cases are designed for those who want to transport two rods and reels. Fully rigid cases are priced between 30 and 60 euros, but with more use of the internet you can also find higher priced cases with logos of famous companies. Tubes. A tube is a round hard case, usually made of a plastic tube and covered with a material. It is a case for one or several rods without reels. A tube is usually 7-10 centimetres in diameter. A 7cm diameter tube can hold a maximum of two rods, while a 10cm tube can hold up to four rods. Tubes are usually used for transporting very expensive rods or for long journeys. Tubes are usually not expensive and cost between 15 and 30 euros. There are also double tubes on the market, where 2 tubes are included in the material, and you can also find a hybrid of a tube and a case, i.e. a tube with a protruding soft pocket for the spool. Such a tube can accommodate a rod and reel. Winter holsters. Winter rod cases did not appear on our market so long ago, because there was not much demand for them. In Lithuania, everybody tried to buy rods that would fit in a winter case, but with the popularity of winter angling with 60-80cm long rods, the need for cases also appeared. There are two types of winter cases. Fully rigid, opening like a suitcase, and tubes with a soft, reel pocket. Their prices range from €15 to €30.

Spinning case

Spinning rod cases are usually for one or two rods. The most popular among anglers are full hard cases or tubes. Tubes are mostly needed for ultra-light rods, which are very fragile with slender limbs. Such rods are better transported separately from the reel and a tube is the best choice. Rods are not only double-ended, but also single-ended, longer than 2 metres, and generally do not come with a case, and tubes of this length are very expensive to import from China. Lithuanian manufacturers have exploited this niche and Lithuanian long tubes for single-ended spinning rods can be found in our shops. For more powerful, even the most expensive spinning rods, fully rigid cases with straps are perfect. They can be used to transport the rods together with the reels. You can find all kinds of cases for all types of fishing in our online and physical stores. We have a very large selection of hard and fully hard cases and all cases are often on sale.
