Feeding stations

Feeders are special baits of various shapes designed to "transport" bait to the bottom of a body of water. When fishing with a float rod, the bait is dropped by hand or with the help of a horn, while when fishing with a bottom/feeder, the bait is dropped by means of a shaker, which, together with the leader and hook, forms the bottom fishing system. There are different types of minnows.

Sherds for fish, their types:

Fish ladders are classified according to several aspects. First of all, the type of bottom fishing for which they are intended.

The purpose of the feeder is divided into feeder and method feeder. The former are generally used for feeder fishing and are usually cage-style, where the bait is placed in different shaped cages. Method feeders are usually shell-shaped and the bait is simply pressed into the shell using a special shape or by hand.

Sherries are also classified according to the material from which they are made. They are usually plastic or metal.

All feeders are also classified according to the method of fixing: sliding (inline) or fixed.

Which one to choose?

When fishing with a feeder, fixed-fixed feeders are the most common choice. Whether plastic or metal is a matter of taste, it is more important that the feeder is suitable for the conditions. Some are designed for long casts, others for strong flow, others for better take-off when part-trolling, others for initial heavy feeding, others for slow baiting and so on. There is no one universal sherry that will cast very far, stay in the current, take off well, and retreat easily. So you have to choose. If you know that you will have to cast very far, choose a feeder that casts well. They have a centre of gravity as focused as possible on the front of the feeder and a sleek, aerodynamic shape. These are the Preston Window, Nisa Rocket. If you are fishing in a very strong current, you should choose a heavy shad with a centre of gravity focused downwards, preferably at the sharpest possible angles. They also come with special 'whiskers'. The best current-holding whiskerless jigs are the Nisa Big Pig, and whiskers are available from all manufacturers. The Atora Spider feeders, for example, are definitely the best value for money and are the most popular among anglers. However, if you need to serve a large amount of bait, you should choose Cresta whisker feeders, which have a much larger volume.

When fishing in still water with steep slopes, where the line needs to rise to the surface as quickly as possible and there is less contact between the line and the bottom, it is best to choose plastic wing feeders. They are the fastest to rise and the easiest to retrieve, but they won't take you far and won't catch you in the current. And which are the most versatile feeders? Probably the ones called wells. They are also very easy to cast, as their centre of gravity is concentrated forward, and they are quite sleek and rise well enough to be pulled. On the downside, they have very poor current holding, but for stillwater fishing at longer distances, they are the number one choice. The most popular wells in Lithuania are Atora, Preston and Akara.
